Circuit: Five Deductions

Tintype, London

2011

A solo show of five installations each representing an encounter that slips between the senses. As much a sound as a touch or a smell. Tacit knowing; common understanding of the physical, experiences for which words are insufficient.

The focus of each of the areas are: a skate wing, a snail, a carnivorous plant, a pillow lava and a wired jaw.

In the centre of the room is a piece of spalted beech with a hexagonal shape cut from the middle, the sections are joined by copper wire and come together into a copper spike in the ceiling.

Materials include:

Cuttle fish, cardamon, soap, animal glue, cow hide, copper, beech, oyster shells, painted glass, fennel seeds, archival prints, slate, egg shell.
